We hold sacred all that lives in the waters and the land
We are an island people, remote from all others, living and breathing the ocean spirit. We hold sacred all that lives in the waters and the land. Resting deep within our culture is a sense to protect the living ocean and the land that supports our very lives. Our old songs of creation join aquatic life to plants on the land. All is in balance. We have much to teach in these times of environmental and human catastrophe.
O' Hawai'i! Our beloved islands have fallen into the whirlpool of global strategies. Since long back, those powers that dream of conquest and domination have torn at our precious island life with fleets of war ships in our harbors, submarines under the waves of our seas, munitions and deadly war gases dumped off our islands, and now horrid war games.
In a sanctuary to preserve ocean life, where whales birth calves and dolphins frolic, come submarines with deadly sonar, come entire fleets of war ships, come war planes dropping bombs. “War games in the whale nursery”. Indeed, tis enough!
So we are now born from Pele’s fire, joined in common cause, across our sacred islands to say NO! When you make our whales bleed with sonar, we bleed also. When you kill our whales, we also die. So we join hands with other “Ocean Noise Coalitions”, in Europe and North America, and to them we say Aloha!
